SPL Season 3 Championship: The Boys vs. Fighting Squirrels
The Boys, the first fifth seed to make the finals in SPL history, roll into the championship with big-game experience, loads of talent, and winning three of their last four sixes lacrosse games.
The Fighting Squirrels earned the second bye in the SPL playoffs. Only dropping one game during their regular season, the Squirrels don’t enter the finals without controversy. The SPL Semi-Final number 2 broadcast score showed Pride of Patty beating the Squirrels. However, further investigation into the film showed the Squirrels leading Pride of Patty throughout the game and into its completion, giving them their first appearance in the season finale.
The Squirrels’ move to the SPL Championship from post-game deliberation does not mean the team should be underestimated or overlooked by The Boys. Both teams can go on scoring runs, and because the Squirrels play with the greatest goalie in league history, (Andrew Smith saves the ball at a league all-time high of 50%) their runs could easily be unanswered.
